It didn’t take that long for Elden Ring’s new DLC, Shadow Of The Erdtree, to pass a million copies sold. In fact, it sold more than five million in just three days of its release.
The base game was previously reported to have sold more than 25 million copies.
Based on prior statistics, a rough estimate of about 40% of the playerbase has fulfilled the conditions to reach the starting point of Shadow Of The Erdtree, which translates to about 10 million players across all platforms. As such, we can roughly say that about half of the playerbase that was ready for Shadow Of The Erdtree has purchased the DLC at launch.
The one-and-only expansion to the methodical action RPG (i.e. soulslike game) adds a new map, the Land Of Shadow (or sometimes referred as the Shadow Realm) with new enemies, bosses, weapons, armour sets, and so, so many cookbooks with new recopies for crafted items.
It also expands the story and lore of the world, as created by George R.R. Martin and FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki. In particular, the story has players follow the footsteps of Miquella, one of the demigods that appeared in passing, sort of, in the base game.
Elden Ring and the Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
