A new press release for investors regarding the preliminary results of EA’s third fiscal quarter revealed that more than 1.5 million players have played Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Simply referred to as Dragon Age in the press release, this was “down nearly 50% from the company’s expectations”.

1.5 million players is a lot. Despite the new Bioware game’s lukewarm reception it still has a big fanbase. Though how many of them actually bought the game and not just try the free character creator remains to be seen.

EA is lowering net bookings expectations for the fiscal year, though Dragon Age: The Veilguard underperforming isn’t the sole reason for this. Rather, it’s the decline of Global Football (i.e. EA Sports FC games) after seeing double-digit growth the last two fiscal years.

Despite EA Sports FC 25 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard underperforming, EA’s revised expectations would see them earn $2.215 billion USD in the third fiscal quarter, and at least $7 billion USD for fiscal year 2025.

The Veilguard is the latest Dragon Age in 10 years, and the first Bioware game that’s actually decent for the same amount of time. Check out our review here.
