So there was a reason why Crusader Kings II is now free. It’s getting a sequel.
At PDXCon last weekend, Paradox Interactive announced Crusader Kings III, the grand strategy game set during the Medieval era. The game series lets you play a member of a royal dynasty, from a king of a small region in modern-day Ireland to the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.
From there, you can rule as you wish. Provide infrastructure. Go warmongering and join the crusade. Scheme against your brethren so they die and you inherit their titles. Go wild with relationships and have way too many illegitimate children. There are tons of possibilities.
Crusader Kings III is getting a UI overhaul, literal skill trees, and even 3D character portraits. An improved tutorial is also promised, with in-game suggestions that will nudge you in the right direction if you’re lost or overwhelmed with the many choices you have.
Crusader Kings III will be out in 2020 on PC (Steam). It will also launch day-1 on Xbox Game Pass for PC.
