The annual official Formula 1 video game will continue to be developed by Codemasters in the next six years. Codemasters and Formula One Management have agreed to extend this partnership, which was expected to end in 2020, to 2021 and until 2025. With options to extend further to 2026 or 2027.
Codies have been at the helm of the official F1 games since 2008, and have steadily improved the racing. F1 2018 brought back media interviews for its career mode while F1 2019 added the feeder series F2 for both the 2018 season and 2019, via a post-launch update.
This deal means that Codemasters will be making the F1 2021 game, which should be exciting as the sport undergoes a major technical regulation changes, which on the visual side, would produce very different looking cars.
The F1 games are also used for the F1 Esports Series, which involves all the 10 F1 teams participating this year.
Check out our review of F1 2019 here, which we call it “the definition of a great racing series with a development team that aims to make better in the future”.
