ASUS ROG has revealed their new lineup of gaming laptops for 2019, all powered by Nvidia RTX GPUs. This is the first of possibly many gaming laptops coming out this year that embraces the next generation graphics card.
There are five new laptops being shown at CES 2019. The usual suspects are here. Zephyrus S, the slim gaming laptop, gets another refresh for the existing GX531. The notable change is the use of an Nvidia RTX 2080 Max-Q Design.
Here’s the specs:
- CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design 8GB GDDR6 VRAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 VRAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 VRAM
- RAM: 8GB DDR4
- Storage: M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 1TB SSD, M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x2 512GB / 1TB SSD
- Display: 17.3” 1920×1080 IPS-level panel, 144Hz
The ROG Strix also gets the RTX treatment, both in the SCAR series (marketed for FPS players) and Hero series (for MOBAs). Here’s the specs for both of the ROG Strix SCAR II GL504 and ROG Strix Hero II GL504.
- CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H, Intel Core i5-8300H
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 VRAM (SCAR II only), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 VRAM
- RAM: Up to 32GB DDR4
- Storage: M.2 NVMe PCIe 128GB / 256GB / 512GB SSD, 2.5” 5400rpm 1TB SSHD, 2.5” 5400rpm / 7200rpm 1TB HDD
- Display: 15.6″ 1920×1080 IPS-type, 144Hz
Then we have the no-holds-barred ROG G703. This is a gaming laptop that cares not to be portable and is an absolute unit size-wise for all those cooling equipment. Here’s the specs for that.
- CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 8GB GDDR6
- RAM: Up to 64GB DDR4
- Storage: M.2 NVMe PCIe 128GB / 256GB / 512GB SSD, 2.5” 5400rpm 1TB SSHD, 2.5” 5400rpm / 7200rpm 1TB HDD
- Display: 17.3” 1920×1080 IPS-level panel, 144Hz
Lastly is the ROG Mothership, an out-of-this world “desktop replacement” that looks more like an all-in-one PC or a thick Surface Pro rather than a regular laptop.
All these laptops will be sold as early as Q1 2019 but we will wait for the local ASUS representatives to announce the availability of these here in Malaysia. And which specs will be available here.
