Catherine Full Body Will Have Online Battles, Adds Another Catherine

Yesterday, it was announced by Famitsu that horror puzzler Catherine will be ported to the PS4 and PS Vita with the addition of new content. More details were set to be revealed in the Japanese gaming magazine, and Gematsu managed to get more details.

First, the development is now under Studio Zero, the new studio Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino is now leading. The third Catherine is named Rin, a pianist at the Stray Sheep bar protagonist Vincent frequents to. The addition of Rin will “introduce new branches for the other two Catherines”. New endings, episodes, anime movies and “sexy events” will also be added.

Interestingly, there will be some new mechanics added to the block puzzles that is the core gameplay of Catherine. You can now move multiple blocks that are all connected. A new mode and online battle is also confirmed.

As we like to mention, Catherine has a competitive scene where players make use of the two-player split-screen mode to compete in the block puzzles. The “unexpected excitement for the competitive mode overseas” has made the developers include online functionality.

No details on when it will be released yet, or an English localisation confirmation. Catherine Full Body is said to be 50% done already so it should not be long to see it comes out, in Japan at least.
