Capcom has revealed a new IP at today’s March 2022 State Of Play broadcast, Exoprimal. It features a bunch of dinosaurs and a lady with red hair is seen in the trailer, but that’s as close as it gets to the long-dormant Dino Crisis series.
Instead, Exoprimal is an online-only, multiplayer title where up to five players squad up using exosuits to bust down dinosaurs around the world in the near-future of 2040.
An outbreak where a swarm of raptors can literally drop from the sky may seem to be a doom-and-gloom situation, but as -portrayed in the reveal trailer, it’s all under control and treated like a weather report.
The Aibius corporation, using its Leviathan AI, can predict when and where a dino outbreak will appear, and send the exosuit pilots to take care of it.

Capcom has since revealed more information about the new IP, like how the exosuits work, and how the gameplay is structured.
Exosuits come in different classes (Assult does damage, Tanks takes the aggro away from teammates, Support can bring healing and enemy debuffs) and can be changed mid-fight. This will expose you to attacks for a short time, but you are allowed that flexibility. So team comps aren’t locked in from the start of the session.
Ftom the reveal trailer, we see two different Assault suits. Deadeye (the orange one) uses an assault rifle and can engage in medium and long range fights. Zephyr is the blue blur that fights with tonfas, doing melee attacks at close range.
We see one Tank exosuit, Roadblock, a heavyweight suit that’s durable and also can unleash a massive shield. The shield also has a boost function, which lets it repel big enemies.
For Support, there’s the Witchdoctor. This exosuit can buff allies like giving them faster movement and repair their suits.
These four are not the only suits, Capcom hasn’t detailed that one other purple suit as seen in the trailer, and there will be more suits available.

Exoprimal has a PvE mode, Dino Survival, which is what we see in the reveal here. But there’s an indirect PvP aspect to it as well. Your team of five will be matched against another team of five players, racing to complete the missions first.
The missions you will get will be different each time, as they will change to match your current skill level.
Exoprimal will see Ichiro Kiyokawa (Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter World Iceborne producer for the PC ports) acting as producer and Takuro Hiraoka (Monster Hunter XX, Monster Hunter World Iceborne main planner) helming the director role.
Exoprimal as it right now gives off a sci-fi Monster Hunter vibe, but with its own twist and flavour.
Exoprimal is set for release sometime in 2023, coming to PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
