Borderlands 3 Sold More Than 5 Million Copies In Five Days

Hey there, superfans

Borderlands 3, Gearbox’s latest entry to its looter-shooter series, is selling like hotcakes. Publishers 2K has announced that within five days, the game has sold more than 5 million copies,

This has broken a few records for 2K and the game series. It’s the fastest-selling 2K game, fastest-selling 2K game on PC and fastest-selling for a Borderlands game, 50% more sales than Borderlands 2 within the same five-day window. It also has earned more than $1 billion USD in Net Bookings, making Borderlands the second billion-dollar franchise under 2K.

Of the total sales, more than 70% was digital. It’s also 2K’s and the Epic Games Store’s biggest pre-order sales.

On that note, despite Borderlands 3 being exclusively on the Epic Games Store (until April 2020), sales on that front have been described as “incredibly strong” in 2K’s press release. No numbers were disclosed, however.

Looks like the hype meat train, and the goodwill among fans is still strong with Borderlands. Our review Borderlands 3 described it as “like grabbing a huge platter of your favourite comfort food“. Gearbox have plans to add live service-style content, the first of which is the Bloody Harvest limited-time event. Though we hope those performance issue fixes come quick.
