Bleak City-Builder Frostpunk Sold 250,000 Copies In 66 Hours, Developers Commit To Post-Launch Updates

Hope rises significantly

11 bit Studios has announced that their newly released game, Frostpunk, has broke even. The bleak city-builder where you have to keep the last remaining people alive in the cold apocalypse needed to sell 250,000 copies to be profitable, a milestone that was reached within three days of the game’s launch.

The indie studio that previously worked on This War Of Mine, another emotional strategy game, has said that there are now plans for post-launch expansions- including free updates. But the priority for now is extra polishing. “We plan to polish some rough edges of the original game – you’re reporting some issues with difficulty balance, with minor bugs and such, reads the post on Steam.

“We want to fix that! We also plan to add more modes and scenarios to the game. What are they going to be exactly? It’s too early to announce – but you should be excited.”

One thing is for certain, a sandbox or endless mode is certainly in the plans. Frostpunk only has three scenarios with scripted sequences and predestined time limit, which may leave fans of more traditional city-builders wanting more. But for those expecting more content, keep your hopes up.

“Frostpunk is going to grow – all you have to do right now is to wait a little bit. We do plan to release a roadmap for our development plans as soon as we’re ready. Stay tuned!”
