Need to look at some new indie game? This might catch your eye. As Far As The Eye is a neat rougelike where you manage a wandering nomad tribe, ensuring the pupils survive through the randomly-generated terrain.
The twist? The main gameplay feels like a 4X title ala Civilization. But you’re not exterminating anyone here, it’s your tribe versus the environment, and the many random encounters.
Your nomad tribe will stop at various stops (halts, as it’s called in-game) during the journey to the end of the map. At these halts, you stop and gather materials in a turn-based system on a hexagon map.
Your opponent is the environment. Random events will be forecasted and will make things rough. And you can’t stick around- you only have a limited amount of turns before a tide washes you up. Even worse, you can’t horde a lot of resources- you can carry a limited amount of supplies on your way to the next stop.
It’s an interesting game of extreme resource management wrapped in a rougelike and 4X structure.
As Far As The Eye is out now on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store).
