Armored Core VI Fires Of Rubicon Will Include Emblem Creator Feature

A new presentation for FromSoftware’s upcoming mecha action game Armored Core VI Fires Of Rubicon was held at Taipei Game Show 2023 recently. The 18-minute presentation didn’t divulge that much into new details, but there is one new little tidbit that was dropped, emblem creation will return.

In the Armored Core series, players are able to design their personal emblem, a logo of sorts, that will be displayed on their profile and even on the mecha, the Armored Core, itself. It’s a prominent feature that was available since the original Armored Core game back in 1997, where you draw pixel art. The latest Armored Core game, Armored Core Verdict Day, allows players to create emblems by using pre-determined stamps – similar to modern racing games with a livery editor.

“This title [Armored Core VI] features so-called emblems, as was the case in prior series titles,” said Armored Core VI producer Yasunori Ogura. “These emblems really do allow the players’ personalities to show through, and we are aware that many of our users spend considerable time getting them just right.

“So for those users who enjoy creating their very own emblem, we look forward to giving them the opportunity to do that, and share them with everyone else.”

The emblem creator is a fan-favourite feature, and it’s good to see it returning. Expect to see some lavish creations, which a good chunk of it probably being lavish creations of anime waifus, like any game with a livery/emblem editor.

The presentation, available in the featured video above with English subtitles, has repeated many points from the previous interview with IGN. This includes the focus on mecha customisation and how it affects the action part of the game, the campaign being a single-player experience with a multiplayer arena mode planned, and how the boss fights will be something you would come to expect from a FromSoft game.

Other interesting tidbits include how difficult will the game be (the answer to that seems to be that you can always build your mech around any problem or situation to make it easier) and what the story will be (corporations and organisations fighting for control of a newly-discovered resource on the planet Rubicon 3, and you are, as always, a merc for hire caught in the crossfire).

Armored Core VI Fires Of Rubicon will be released sometime this year on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
