After A One-Year Break, WWE 2K Returns With WWE 2K22

During last weekend’s WrestleMania 37, a new teaser appeared for WWE 2K22.

The teaser sees Ray Mysterio back in his mask again and pulls his 619 signature move on Cesaro. It’s a short 30-second clip, with some bits of gameplay mixed with in-real-life footage.

The WWE 2K series took a break in 2020 after 2019’s WWE 2K20 was plagued with not only launch issues, but the entire game itself being a major step down in quality from the previous year’s entry. WWE 2K21 never happened and was skipped.

Previous developer Yuke’s are not involved anymore (they’re making a wrestling game for a rival franchise, AEW) and the development of WWE 2K22 is being headed by Visual Concepts.

WWE 2K22 promises that “it hits different” this time, as that’s its tagline. Hopefully, there are enough changes for this year’s game that it hits different, positively, this time.

No other details were teased, but expect to see more of WWE 2K22 later this year.
