WWE 2K Battlegrounds Launches This September

There will be no WWE 2K wrestling sim title this year, but there will be a new WWE game still. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is set to fill the void with a new brand of arcade brawler, featuring WWE Superstars in super-deformed glory.

By arcade, we mean “Stone Cold Steve Austin has ice breath and The Undertaker can summon lightining strikes” kind of arcade.

Developed by Saber Interactive, WWE 2K Battlegrounds will feature various modes. This includes exhibition matches, a campaign where seven WWE hopefuls fight their way to earn a contract for the wrestling brand (and unlock new arenas along the way), and King of the Battleground.

This is an online mode that’s essentially Royal Rumble (four player starts in the ring, four more waits their turn to enter, last person standing wins).

The game also supports four-player local multiplayer as well as online features.

You can also create your own character in WWE 2K Battlegrounds to compete alongside the 70 Superstars and Legends.

WWE 2K Battlegrounds will be out on September 18 for the PS4, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Switch and Stadia.
