Yuke’s, the former developers of the WWE licensed games, have teamed up with All Elite Wrestling to make a game for the upstart professional wrestling promotion.
AEW has been teasing to make have their own brand of games for quite some time, and has now established AEW Games and unveiled three games to be in the works. The highlight being Yuke’s mainline wrestling game.
Yuke’s have vast experience in wrestling games. The slip in quality of recent years’ WWE titles have made them consider launching a new wrestling IP to compete against themselves. But now the Japansese developers are not working with WWE and 2K anymore.
AEW star and certified gaming enthusiast Kenny Omega revealed a snippet of Yuke’s AEW game and it already looks interesting- faster-paced, and it has intergender matches- something the WWE 2K series lacks. Chris Jericho, Hikaru Shida and Kenny Omega featured in the teaser footage.
AEW Games are also working on two mobile games, AEW Elite General Manager and AEW Casino Double Or Nothing.
