XCOM-Like Gears Tactics Launches On April 28th For PC Via Steam, Microsoft Store And Xbox Game Pass

Gear Tactics, the XCOM-like strategy tactics game for Gears, got a release date. Revealed at the Game Awards 2019 is a new trailer that gives the backstory of the game.

Set 12 years before the events of Gears Of War, you take control of a squad of survivors, led by Gabe Diaz fending off the Locust Horde. The game is being billed as fast-paced, though it’s still a turn-based game, with a 40-hour plus campaign. Characters can be customised with new skills, weapons, and gear.

It just makes sense that a series that defined the cover shooter gets an XCOM-like strategy tactics game that uses cover mechanics.

The game is developed by current Gears developers The Coalition, together with Splash Damage.

Gears Tactics will launch on April 28th, 2020 on PC via Steam (for RM95) and Microsoft Store. Like all Microsoft first-party titles, it will launch on day one on Xbox Game Pass for PC.
