Xbox One S All-Digital Edition Has No Disc Drives, But Is Slightly Cheaper

The Xbox One’s launch vision of digital games was too radical for us back in 2014. But now in 2019, the idea of going all-digital with games purchases is not as crazy as you’d think.

Now, Microsoft has unveiled a slightly cheaper version of the Xbox One, the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. It’s the Xbox One S minus the disc drive.

Since you cannot play any discs, the console is designed for those that are okay with buying all their games digitally or maybe even subscribe to Xbox Game Pass (which now has a new plan, Game Pass Ultimate, that combines it with Xbox Live Gold). It comes with codes for Minecraft, Sea Of Thieves and Forza Horizon 3. Not too shabby.

As for pricing, the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is only $249 USD (around RM1,030) compared to the Xbox One S which is $299 USD (around RM1,235). Not that significantly cheaper but it’s something. It will be available beginning May 8th.

There has been rumoured and leaks of a disc-less Xbox One S, and it has now been properly unveiled on the recent Inside Xbox stream.
