For the uninitiated, Xbox Live Gold is the equivalent to Playstation Plus where it offers online multiplayer and a limited choice of redeemable games. Whereas Xbox Game Pass is the Netflix-style subscription that lets you access a library of 100 games, including newly-released Xbox One exclusives.
Both services are offered for $9.99 USD (around RM40) monthly, but with the Game Pass Ultimate, you get online multiplayer and access to a huge catalog of games to play for $14.99 USD (around RM62) per month.
One of the common complaints about PS Plus subscribers over here in Malaysia is the choice of free games- this month’s offering is nothing to shout about, for example. And Microsoft now has the best answer to that problem. Game Pass includes the latest third-party releases like Just Cause 4 and also some gems from the past, including Xbox 360 games that are backward-compatible.
It’s a pretty good deal. Now if only Xbox gets proper support to the whole of Southeast Asia.
