WWE 2K22 Hits Stores March 11

2K has announced a release date for the next entry of the WWE 2K wrestling game series, WWE 2K22.

After taking a break (a much-needed one, given the state of the game being too janky and badly put together in recent years), developers Visual Concepts have a redesigned gameplay engine for WWE 2K22, and upgraded visuals too. The controls have been redesigned for this year’s entry as well.

As for game modes, the 2K Showcase returns and will highlight the many iconic moments of its cover star Rey Mysterio.

You can create your own superstar wrestler in MyRISE mode.

The Universe Mode returns with an upgraded Creation Suite for players to create their own wrestling experience with custom wrestlers, arenas, championships. New to this year is that you can share the creations cross-platform.

There will be two new modes for WWE 2K22. MyGM lets you be the WWE General Manager, where you are able to build your brand of the WWE Universe. MyFACTION mode lets you “collect and manage their dream faction with weekly events and regular updates, providing tremendous challenges and replay value.”

2K promises that with WWE 2K22, it will hit different, as an acknowledgement of the series’ past woes. Whether or not this new entry have fixed and addresses its many compounding issues remain to be seen.

WWE 2K22 will hit stores on March 11 for the PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Note that the Standard Edition of the PS4 and Xbox One version does not have a free next-gen upgrade, you’ll need to get the Cross-Gen Bundle edition to own the game on both PS4 and PS5 (or both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S).
