Wreckreation Devs Launch Patreon To Keep Working On Game Updates

Indie devs Three Fields Entertainment, the team that recently launched Wreckreation, has now launched a Patreon. This is after publicly announcing it will potentially lay off all of the staff due to lack of publisher support.

So, good news. The staff at Three Fields, which had been given notice of potentially being let go, are not unemployed yet. And hopefully remain so should the Patreon takes off as planned.

The Patreon allows patrons directly help keep the folks not only employed, but also continue to make new content for the open world racing sandbox from some of the talents that brought us the Burnout series. Wreckreation, previously known as Dangerous Driving 2, is more or less a spiritual successor to 2008’s seminal racing game Burnout Paradise.

The Patreon offers a free tier, for folks who just want to read up on what the team is working on. Those that pledge in monthly support will have their name on the game’s credits.

Here’s a quote of the first post on Three Fields Entertainment’s Patreon:

“We love having a direct relationship with our players so in many ways a Patreon is the perfect solution for us. Whether you want to just stay updated with all our news or want to forge a deeper relationship where you get to message us privately, vote on what we work on next or have the chance to get your own name or content into the game we hope you will join us on this next chapter.

Patreon is usually the platform of choice where one can support content creators, including those that cover video games. Though rarely we see it’s used for game developers with industry cred behind them. Even more rare to see it to support an already live game.

But this is a rare chance to help support an indie developer get back from a very low point. Wreckreation doesn’t quite live up to the expectations one might have from the makers of Burnout, but it’s clear that these folks aren’t giving up just yet, with Content Update 3 already detailed exclusive to their Patrons.

We hope that Three Fields have enough fans (or one very wealthy patron) that, just like them, are also not giving up on Wreckreation yet.
