Where Winds Meet Is Coming To PS5, New Trailer Shows Off Fantastical Boss Fights

Where Winds Meet, the ambitious open-world RPG by Chinese developers Everstone Studio, is coming to the PS5.

A new trailer was revealed for the game at the Summer 2024 State Of Play broadcast, showcasing more of its wuxia action but this time, it has more supernatural elements.

The combat looks like boss fights, and they look epic.

Parry and block a supernatural being that teleports in and out, dodge a large spear from a general on a horse. And other extravagant fights on large open areas where everything else outside the battlefield seems to be crumbling. It looks almost like a soulslike.

The bosses shown in the new trailer includes Rongyuan, a “female officer and excellent craftsman” and the River God- a gang leader masquerading as a fishmonger looking to challenge someone in fights.

For a recap, Where Winds Meet takes place in ancient China, particularly during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period (i.e. way, way further in the future than the Three Kingdoms period, which has been popularly depicted in various media outside of China).

As a young swordsman or swordswoman, they’ll be journeying around the open world to uncover their identity. Yes, you can also play as a female character in Where Winds Meet, that’s new information revealed in this trailer.

The first few reveals of the game evoke more of a open world RPG feel where you get to explore towns, do side quests and mini-games and other RPG stuff. This trailer is all about boss fights, it seems.

“We are so excited to be bringing Where Winds Meet to PlayStation 5,” said Beralt Lyu, producer from Everstone Studio said. “We can’t wait for PlayStation fans to get to grips with our thrilling oriental adventure, to travel the ancient world as a young sword master and to steep themselves in Chinese martial arts!”

Where Winds Meet is to be published by NetEase Games. The game has no release date yet, but it’s coming to PS5 and PC.
