Valorant Adds New Gun Game-Inspired Mode, Escalation

Riot Games’ FPS game Valorant has added a new game mode: Escalation. And you might have played this mode before in other FPS titles like Counter-Strike and Call Of Duty.

Escalation is a casual match where you start off with the most powerful guns. But with each kill, your gun is replaced with a weaker one. The Valorant twist to this Gun Game mode is that hero abilities are in play, and it’s a 5v5 match.

There will be 12 stages of escalation featuring 12 different guns and abilities. The set is randomly generated at the start of the match (and both teams have the same set). When one team has reached the final stage of escalation, every member will be switched to the final, weakest weapon in the set.

“In designing Escalation, we wanted to create a quick, low-stress Team Deathmatch mode with high uptime that’s fun to play socially with friends,” said Kyle Leach, Engineer/Designer on Modes.

“We’re hoping to provide players with an opportunity to practice gunplay across the entire arsenal and experience some abilities in novel ways, while providing a shared objective that benefits from some coordination but doesn’t require it for a team to succeed.”

The Escalation game mode is now live. Valorant is free-to-play on PC.
