Gears 5 is among the few games that will be getting enhancements for the Xbox Series on launch. While there are graphical improvements, there are also a few changes.
One of it is having old hero Marcus Fenix recasted and played as Dave Bautista. Otherwise known as Batista, the former pro wrestler turned Hollywood actor has made it clear how big of a fan he is of Marcus- and even wants to play him in a Gears movie. Previously, Bautista appeared in multiplayer mode as himself.
This not only changes the likeness of Marcus to match Bautista, but also has Bautista’s voice acting too.
Unlike Marvel’s Spider-Man that also see an iconic character being recast, this is an optional toggle. If you prefer the original Marcus Fenix, you can still keep it, thankfully.
The update also lets you use any multiplayer skin in the campaign mode, new achievements, new mutators and a new difficulty: Inconceivable Mode.
And for those that are looking for the technical enhancements, the new update for Xbox Series X|S will add there:
- PC Ultra visual feature set (this is more true on Series X)
- PC Ultra-HD texture pack (Series X only)
- 60 FPS (Series X only) cinematics allowing more seamless blending between gameplay and cinematics
- 120 FPS in Versus
- Screen Space Global Illumination which gives your scene dynamic bounce lighting
- Contact Shadows allowing per-pixel accurate shadowing
- 4x improvement in load times
- 50% more particles than PC Ultra
- Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) for more responsive gaming
The update will arrive alongside the Xbox Series of consoles launch: November 10.
