When Ubisoft revealed its new extreme sports open-world title Riders Republic (which looks more like Steep 2 but with bicycles), they’ve committed to a release date of February 21.
However, today they’ve announced that it will be released on a later date this year.
“This additional time will allow our passionate team to deliver the best fun fueled experience to our players,” the statement reads as posted on the Riders Republic official Twitter.
Riders Republic has you riding downhill on open areas based on national parks in the USA, with up to 50-player races on next-gen consoles. Biking may be the core sport, but skiing, wing suit flying, and snowboarding from Steep is still part of this game.
Delays are inevitable, but it’s fine. The end of 2021 is still sparse with any confirm release dates anyway. And given Ubisoft’s recent rough launches with Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, hopefully the time afforded can make Riders Republic be technically sound on launch.
Riders Republic will be available for the PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Stadia.
