2K released a massive info drop for the upcoming looter-shooter by Gearbox, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, today.
One of the new info drops divulges more into the overworld. We saw a glimpse of it the gameplay reveal trailer where the game goes into a top-down view with your characters having big heads and tiny bodies (or rather, a bobblehead design).
It’s a nod to the tabletop gaming inspirations Wonderlands is based on- the whole premise is you playing a tabletop session with Tiny Tina as your Dungeon Master. But apparently, there is a lot of stuff to discover in the overworld.
Gearbox confirmed in their developer diary post that the overworld will have secrets to discover. These can range from quick dungeon runs and some hidden chests to full-on optional regions that are “expansive environments complete with their own multi-part questlines.”

The first two optional regions revealed are the Tangledrift, inspired by the Jack And The Beanstalk tale. The region is whole a city in the sky uplifted by a magical beanstalk. The other is the Sunfang Oasis, a desert land with remnants of past civilisations.
You can also find collectables in the overworld, like Lucky Dice that increases your luck (important for better rare drops), Shrine pieces to collect which can give passive buffs, and poetry pages that can be read by the local bard.
There are even shortcuts to discover. And if you stray from the main paths you might also get into a random encounter. You’ll see the enemies coming to you, and if you punch them away they’ll explode. If not, you’ll be transported into first-person to battle them. You can also run away if you want to avoid those pesky random encounters, but there’s also a chance for them to drop loot.
The overworld, a full character creator with the ability to multiclass, plus having magic and melee be part of your main arsenal alongside the usual guns makes Wonderlands so far sounds like a very promising Borderlands spin-off.
We will have to wait to find out if it is true when Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be out on March 25, 2022 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version is exclusive to Epic on launch, but will still be coming to other stores later in 2022.
