There Are At Least 26.4 Million Active PS Plus Subscribers Right Now

If you visit the Playstation Store frequently, you might notice how often there is a promo for a PS Plus subscription. From the good lineup of free games offered each month to deals that give you additional months of subscription (or sometimes games), there’s plenty of push to convince people to subscribe other than it being a requirement for multiplayer on the PS4.

Sony Interactive Entertainment shared with us yesterday some interesting numbers they are bolstering. For one is that are quite a number of PS Plus subscribers worldwide, the number being accurate by the end of March 2017. Considering that there are about 60.4 million PS4s already sold (also accurate by the end of March 2017) and 70 million active users of the PS ecosystem (PS4, PS3, Vita), that’s a lot of active subscribers, nearing half the numbers of PS4 owners. Again, having it being a requirement for multiplayer on the PS4 drives that number up significantly.

Having more than 60 million PS4s sold is also one impressive number.

As the current industry leader, good numbers like that are expected. “The PS4 platform is in its prime, with the industry’s best lineup of exclusive and partner titles slated to release this year, taking full advantage of the power of the PS4 system,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “We remain steadfast in bringing the best entertainment experience to users worldwide and making PS4 the best place to play.”

Judging from Sony’s E3 press conference yesterday as we see more of their bigger AAA titles getting closer to launch, Sony is definitely in tip top shape. Let’s hope the other two console manufacturers can keep up and get everyone remain competitive. When they are all competitive it will bring better products and services to the gamers.
