A new game update for The Sims 4 has arrived today alongside the release of The Sims 4 For Rent expansion. With it comes a fix for the most annoying issues any Simmer has faced over the course of years: Sims doing the dishes in bathroom sinks.
For whatever reason, Sims will sometimes use the sinks in the bathroom to do wash dishes after meals, even if a more convenient sink in the kitchen is closer by.
The new update introduced a fix of sorts. You can now assign a “Sink Type” to your sinks. Sinks can now be designated as Kitchen, Bathroom or All (should you wish to let Sims do their washing up and the dishes normally).
It’s an opt-in solution, you’ll have to designate the type during Live Mode, like how you can designate beds or lock doors. But it’s so much better than nothing.
Alongside that, two other big features have been added to the base game. You can now set any lot to allow shoes indoors or not by designating that option on a Men’s Shoe Rack or a Women’s Shoe Rack. Indoor shoe removal was only a thing within the Snowy Escape expansion.
If you don’t own Snowy Escape but looking to purchase For Rent, rest assured you can still recreate a typical Southeast Asian home where, like parts of East Asia, shoes are typically not worn indoors.
Another nice quality-of-life update is the ability to switch control of households by selecting the context menu on the front door of any houses. This is for the players who bounce around household frequently, which should save some time from having to wait for a loading screen to go to the World Map, then load up the household of choice.
There are plenty of bug fixes and changes that is included in the December 5 game update. Full patch notes can be found here.
