The free update to accompany the upcoming The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories game pack is now live. While you need to get the DLC to experience most of the new content (new world, marriage planning), base game players are also treated to some new stuff available with the free update.
First, in Create-A-Sim, you can have Sims start out Engaged as a Fiancé, so you can create new Sims that can go start planning their big day when the My Wedding Stories DLC arrives.
Also, you can now create Wedding Venues, a new lot type. While previous lots already have a wedding space (like the park in San Myshuno in the City Living expansion pack), these are specific lot types for the occasion.
The two wedding arches available in the base game have also gotten new colour variations.
Plus, new music is added to base game owners, part of the World radio station. The World genre was previously released in the City Living expansion, but now there are new songs available as part of the base game. Songs from the expansion are not being added to the base game, however. The love song that appeared in the My Wedding Stories trailer is also added to the Romance station.
Lastly, there’s a bunch of new clothing and accessories added to the base game. These include a bindi, a full body swimsuit for toddlers, french tip nails and 10 existing items that got new colours options.
Alongside are several bug fixes, including a much-needed change where clicking on a Sim’s face in Create-A-Sim won’t instantly zoom into detail mode, when you just probably want to put a hat on them. You can find the full patch notes here.
The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Pack was slated for release today on PS4, PC (Steam, Origin) and Xbox One. However, it has since been pushed back to February 23.
The full story involves Russia’s homophobic laws which are against the spirit of the pack which highlights same-sex marriages, as seen in the reveal trailer.
The plan was to abandon its release in Russia instead of making alterations to have it released in the country, but after community feedback, EA and The Sims Team will now release the pack in Russia (as is, “unaltered and unchanged”) alongside the rest of the world, but at a later date of February 23.
