The Sims 4 is getting ready for summer a little bit early as it adds new swimsuits, as well as new colours for existing ones, to the base game as a free update.
The update is delivered via the Sims Delivery Express, so when you boot up the game, expect to reboot it again before the new content drops.
The new swimsuits, which includes a tankini (tank top, bikini bottom) and a wrap top, is also designed to fit well on Sims of all shapes and sizes.
The new colour choices are nice too, giving more variety to swimsuits available in the base game, which was really lacking. Packs (paid DLCs) don’t particular add much of these previously, though the recently released Poolside Splash Kit did add quite a number of Create-A-Sim options for, well, poolside attire.
Savvier Simmers would have solved this issue with downloading custom content, but it’s nice that free base game is still updated from time to time with these additions.

In the bigger world of life sim games, there’s going to be more competition for The Sims with various life sim games now in development. There is already a next The Sims game, currently called Project Rene, in the works.
