The Illegear Laguna SE Is A Slim Gaming Laptop That Doesn’t Compromise On Performance

Malaysian-based custom gaming laptop brand Illegear is introducing the Illegear Laguna SE. The second of their line of laptops getting the SE treatment (after the Raven), the Laguna SE is a slim gaming laptop that doesn’t compromise on performance.

Unlike the fancier Onyx and Selenite, the Laguna SE utilises full-fledge Nvidia RTX GPUs. Not the Max-Q editions which use less power (and slightly lower performance compared to normal versions). As such, the Laguna SE has dual fans with quad-heat pipes and quad-heat vents to keep up with the cooling demand.

The Laguna SE is 1.9kg light and 21mm thin, with a 9th-gen Intel Core i7 CPU. It has a bezel-less screen, 3 zones of RGB on the keyboard and a double-layer anodized aluminium casing. So it feels like a premium hardware.

If you’re not hot on RTX, thanks to its customisable nature, you can get the Laguna SE with a GTX 1660Ti too.

Here are the specs of the base Illegear Laguna SE

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-9750H
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti 6GB
  • RAM: 8GB DDR4
  • Storage: 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD
  • Display: 15.6″ FHD 144Hz IPS
  • Price: RM5,299

Opting for an RTX 2060 with the rest of the specs intact prices at RM5,998, with the highest-end GPU, the RTX 2070, starts at RM7,098. You can check the configuration options here.

Currently, Illegear has a sale where you can get some free upgrades, including an upgrade to 16GB RAM. Add a 1TB hard disk (and a proper Windows 10 installation, which is not included in the base price) and the Laguna SE should cover the bases for your PC gaming needs. Illegear also have a sweet new backpack, the Duel, which comes bundled with each purchase.
