Local gaming laptop and PC maker Illegear just announced a refresh for their Raven series. Not only does the new Illegear Raven are now equipped with 9th-gen Intel Core processors and the new Nvidia GTX 16 Series graphics cards, but it also has a slimmer version too.
The Illegear Raven SE is a slimmer Raven, 300g lighter at 1.9kg weight and 2mm thinner at 24mm thickness. The bezels got a bit thinner too. So if you prefer the slim look that gaming laptops are all adopting, here you go.
That said, the original Raven with the revised specs for 2019 is still available. Both version’s prices start at RM3,099- the difference being the Raven having a 1TB 7200rpm HDD and a mechanical keyboard using Geneswitch Blue switches, with the Raven SE having a 512GB NVME PCIE M.2 SSD with a normal, membrane keyboard.
Both versions feature the new Illegear Command Center app.
The base version comes with a 2019 version of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, but you can opt for the new GTX 1650, which has (almost) comparable performance to the old GTX 1060. There is also the choice between the Core i5 or i7 for CPUs.
Here are the base specs for the Illegear Raven SE:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-9300H
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX1050 3GB (2019 Edition)
- RAM: 8GB DDR4 RAM
- Storage: 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 6TB)
- Display: 15.6″, 1080p
- Price: RM3,099
Like all Illgear hardware, you can customise the specs to fit your likings, like switching the Core i5 to an i7, add more RAM or more storage space. You can find the customiser for the new Illegear Raven here, and the Illegear Raven SE here.
We reviewed last year’s Raven, calling it “quite a gaming laptop, powerful yet looking sleek and slim in its design.”
