Tekken 8 Revealed With Stunning In-Engine Gameplay

Get ready for the next battle. Bandai Namco has revealed that what they were teasing back at EVO 2022 was indeed Tekken 8.

At the September 2022 State Of Play broadcast, a new trailer debuted showcasing gameplay footage of the game’s story mode. Long-time franchise staple Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama are engaged in one of the few Mishima family traditions as father and son- beat the heck out of each other.

The other is throwing a family member off a cliff or into a volcano or to outer space.

The electronica music, the announcer saying “fight” and the animations from the fight segments suggests this is still the same fighting game from the renowned series. Just with a bit more spectacle.

On the PlayStation Blog, Tekken Project producer Katsuhiro Harada said that the footage showed is all in-game, running real-time at 60 fps, not pre-rendered. It’s still a work-in-progress so the final product might still change in some ways, but the ridiculous effects at play- the whole stage is raining and water visibly drip over these characters, for example- is a really good showcase of the graphical leap the PS5 brings.

There is no release date for Tekken 8 yet. But it’s coming to the PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
