Having fun with Tekken 7 but find it hard to get into online matches? If you’re playing on the PS4, it’s not just you. The Tekken team has known this issue and has now released an update to specifically address it.
While the main fix is the matchmaking, another change to matchmaking is hiding some data of the matched opponent before a match. Before this, you could view the opponent’s character and win number, but this has to be obfuscated to stop players from just rejecting offers from opponents who seem too good on paper- especially pro players.
Here’s the full patch notes (via Eventhubs):
Improved Online Matching Functionality
1. The following player information will no longer be displayed before a match:
– Character selected
– Wins
– Rank
– Title
2. Connection with other players can be established more consistently
3. Improved Stability
– Addition of ON/OFF feature for voice chat
– ON/OFF for voice chat added to OPTION menu.
– Set to OFF as default setting.
A similar update will arrive on PC and Xbox One next week.
Tekken 7 so far has been a solid new entry for the 3D fighting game series, though the content surrounding it could be a tad bit better. Stay tuned for our full review in the coming days.
