Indie-Mecha-tabletop Lancer has overwhelmingly surpassed its own Kickstarter funding goals, barely a day after its campaign launched.
As of this writing, the campaign has raised USD157, 539 (MYR 645043.069), with its original funding goal set at USD 45,000 (MYR184,221).
Lancer is a tabletop RPG set in a futuristic world of mech pilots and out-of-this world monsters, drawing its inspirations from “working class CRT retrofuture” genre media like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Cowboy Bebop.
The game’s systems allow for all types of narrative play, from simple one-shots to continuous campaigns, as you build your pilots and upgrade their mechs.
The game has been in community testing for a while, and the rules are available for free on their itch.io.
While the game’s rules and systems are intended to be free, the purpose of the Kickstarter is to raise money for a fully-illustrated core book, with stretch goals allowing for more supplementary background books for other factions and characters.
You can check out the game’s Kickstarter here, as the campaign has 32 days left.
