Over 2 million copies of Street Fighter 6 have been sold since its launch, publisher and developer Capcom announced today.
The latest entry of the iconic fighting game series, the first for the current generation of consoles, has now bumped the cumulative sales of the Street Fighter series to over 50 million copies worldwide as a result.
Street Fighter 6 welcomed new players with new simpler control schemes available, and an engrossing story mode that’s basically an open-world JRPG. These two elements, alongside the overall game’s no-fuss launch with online servers working most of the time (which is a much better experience in comparison to Street Fighter V’s rough launch), result in the sales of SF6 doing as well as this one month after release.
Capcom is looking to further grow sales numbers via its esports initiatives. SF6 will be featured in the Street Fighter League, as well as the Capcom Pro Tour 2023. The latter is boasting a 2 million USD prize pool, with the winner bagging home 1 million- the biggest prize pool offered by Capcom.
And that’s fine. When the game itself is good, nobody should be complaining about a publisher’s push into esports.
Street Fighter 6 is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S. You can find our review of the game here.
