Strategy RPG Vagrus: The Riven Realms Leaves Steam Early Access This October

Lost Pilgrim Studios announced at Gamescom 2021 that their ruthless Strategy RPG, Vagrus: The Riven Realms, now has a release date.

The game was funded via Fig and has been on Steam Early Access for a while, and will be getting its full release in a month’s time.

Vagrus is set in a dark world. The Riven Realms is a harsh world with many challenges and dangers, and you play as a Vagrus, the leader of a roaming band of vagabonds exploring this sandbox.

The stories you will experience is all coming from how you interact with the sandbox, featuring over 1 million words of story and events. There’s enough lore here that warrants the inclusion of a Codex, built from all the years the dev team played tabletop RPG together prior to forming the studio, where the first created the setting of the Riven Realms.

Also, there are 10 different warring factions that you can align with, or wage war on.

There are unique characters that can be recruited as your companions, and a turn-based combat system that looks like Darkest Dungeon.

Also, you are juggling the sparse resources available on your caravan. You can’t just travel willy-nilly, as you need to ensure your supplies, cargo and crew are all managed. And as such, expect to make some decisions.

If you’re into a more pen-and-paper RPG (or a CRPG) experience, Vagrus looks promising. Especially if you prefer the more grim setting compared to the more evergreen look of Wildermyth (also a very good pen-and-paper-esque strategy RPG if you ask us).

Vagrus: The Riven Realms releases in full on October 5 for PC (Steam, GOG, Fig).
