Paradox Interactive have announced and teased a new expansion coming to its sci-fi 4X-ish grand strategy game Stellaris. Stellaris: Nemesis will be adding “the most powerful tools and mechanics ever introduced to Stellaris”.
Right now, we know of three main mechanics. One is espionage, where you can gather intel on opponents, then lie and deceit them to your advantage, should you wish to pursue that playstyle.
The other is the power to be the Galactic Custodian. In this role, you get to combat endgame crises, which usually involves galactic warfare.
But what if you are the endgame crisis every other players are banding together to stop? The Nemesis expansion adds the option to be the Menace, where you can burn the galaxy to the ground. Full evil, at a galactic level.
Paradox is still very vague in what exactly menacing things you can do, but based on the description on the expansion’s store page, expect stars to explode.
This expansion should really spice up the endgame for Stellaris. But also, this is the fifth expansion, and 13th DLC for this game. Paradox’s style of post-launch content is not for those that want to own all the content. Though they have addressed the issue with their latest game Crusader Kings III.
No release date for Stellaris: Nemesis yet, but expect to see more tidbits of what’s in store in the expansion in the months to come.
