Bethesda announced that Starfield now has a release date again. But it’s not before the first half of 2023 as communicated previously- essentially a delay.
The new trailer, a teaser, reveals not only the release date, but also the date of the dedicated deep dive video, called the Starfield Direct, on June 11. Which should be ahead of the busiest week for gaming news, E3 (or Geoff Keighly’s Summer Game Fest).
Also, game designer Todd Howard makes an appearance.
Starfield is a new IP from Bethesda Game Studios, the makers of The Elder Scrolls series. The developer also took the reigns on the Fallout series since Fallout 3. So a new game like Starfield, set in the open world of… outer space.
Initially revealed targeting a release on November 11, 2022 (which neatly coincides with the release of The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim 11 years ago on the same date), Starfield later received a public delay alongside Redfall, another major Bethesda game.
Starting this year, all major Bethesda games (including Hi-Fi Rush, released earlier this year) apparently are released only on Xbox consoles and PC, forgoing PlayStation, now that they are under Microsoft’s ownership.
Starfield will now launch on September 6 on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
