EA has announced that the much anticipated multiplayer FPS Star Wars Battlefront II is getting an open beta which starts on October 6, with players that pre-ordered getting earlier access on October 4.
Two modes have been confirmed so far. One is Galactic Assault on Naboo. This is the mode that made its debut on EA’s E3 stage that involves a 40 player battle between the Seperatist droids versus the Republic clone army. With tight city streets and open space up above for dogfights, it should be a good first impression of what the new Battlefront II will offer just as the battle on Hoth did for the first new Battlefront.
There will be another map and mode called Starfighter Assault but EA isn’t sharing any details just yet aside from it being placed in the original trilogy (Episode IV-VI) and involves a multi-stage battle while piloting various ships.
The open beta will last until October 9, so if you are curious if Battlefront II is worth checking out, mark your calendars. Star Wars Battlefront II will release on November 17 on the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
