Sons Of The Forest Sold 2 Million Copies After 1 Day Of Launch

Sons Of The Forest, the rather highly anticipated sequel to co-op survival game The Forest, is out now in Early Access. And the developers at Endnight Games have announced they sold a whopping 2 million copies of the game in the first 24 hours.

“We are very excited for what we have in store for players in the coming weeks,” they said in the announcement tweet.

In Sons Of The Forest, players are sent to a remote island filled with cannibals to find a missing billionaire. It’s a survival horror game, but with more emphasis on the survival bit to the point that it’s a base-building survival game. You’ll be building and crafting a lot.

Sons Of The Forest also supports online co-op as well. So yes, it has all the hallmarks of an addictive building and crafting game, but with a more brooding and scary threat.

The game was supposed to be a full release, but the devs decided to have it released now as an Early Access “to involve the community in the continued development of this project and keep our February 23rd release date,” as was revealed earlier this month.

With this strong of a start sales-wise, not delaying it and slapping the Early Access label might be a good call in hindsight. And it’s impressive to see an indie game continue can garner as big of an audience as any other games with bigger budgets.

Sons Of The Forest is out now in Early Access on PC via Steam.
