Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance New DLC Adds Sega Crossover Villains

Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance, the revival of 2D action platformer released last year, is getting new DLC. The Sega Villains Stage DLC will see protagonist Joe Musashi face off against new villains from other Sega games.

The Sega Villains DLC adds three new bosses: Goro Majima from the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series, Death Adder from the Golden Axe series, and of course, perennial Sega baddie Dr. Eggman from the Sonic The Hedgehog series.

Alongside the three new bosses are five crossover stages, two Boss Rush modes which feature the new crossover DLC bosses, three new Ninpo, three outfits and six new music tracks.

The DLC is accessed after completing the fourth zone of the base game.

Publisher Sega also notes that the DLC has “some depictions in this DLC may be reminiscent of tsunamis and other natural disasters.” Not a warning we usually see in press releases, but appreciated. Player discretion is advised.

Alongside the Sega Villains DLC, Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance will also have a free update releasing alongside it. The update Hardcore Mode which not only makes bosses stronger, but enemy placement has been changed as well. New option settings including recovery frame adjustment and toggling the flash effect when taking damage will be added plus other quality of life features.

Developed by Lizardcube, the team behind Streets Of Rage 4 as well as the wonderful remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance brings the 2D action platformer back to life in this new entry. This is one of the many legacy Sega IPs the publisher is resurrecting from dormancy.

Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Sega Villains Stage DLC will be out on April 3.

The game is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
