The February 2025 State Of Play broadcast ended with a reveal for a game we can expect to play in 2026.
The one new PlayStation Studios game reveal is the next title by now-first-party devs Housemarque, the team behind the roguelike shooter Returnal.
Their next game is called Saros. A new IP, this single-player action game has you play as Arjun Devraj (portrayed by Hollywood actor and known Warhammer 40,000 enthusiast Rahul Kohli), who is trapped on an off-world colony under an eclipse.
The trailer has a fascinating bait-and-switch build-up to it, as you a character lying on a beach right after the PlayStation Studios logo, only to quickly reveal it’s not a Kojima Productions game, only for the next few morsels of info that’s in the cinematic trailer to show that it’s indeed a Housemarque game, from the mention of cycle to the ominous glow of multiple orange orbs in a pattern that just screams “bullet hell attack pattern”.
On the PlayStation Blog, there’s more info about Saros. Unlike Returnal, Saros is more roguelite in that it will give you the ability to permanently upgrade your loadout. “Come back stronger” is a keyword here, so this should play like a lot of more modern roguelites than Returnal was, which for some folks might be a bit too punishing.
Saros releases in 2026 for the PS5. A more extensive gameplay reveal will be coming later this year.
