Sand Is An Extraction Shooter Where You Drive And Board Dieselpunk Mech Ships

There’s a new PVPVE extraction shooter and it involves hulking mechs that looks like ships, but walking on land, set in a dieselpunk setting where the Austro-Hungarian Empire colonised space which caused the ocean to dry up so the world is full of sand.

Sand, as the game is called, showed its first gameplay trailer at the TinyBuild Connect 2024 showcase. It’s a first person game where you can hop on or off Tramplers, the walking dieselpunk mechs which looks like ships with legs as you shoot and loot.

The Tramplers are your walking base of operation and can be customised with different armour and weapons. Controlling these hulks will require some teamwork.

The world of Sand is semi-procedurally generated, and with various in-game events popping, creatures, smugglers and the appearance of other players, the game is banking that there will be emergent gameplay emerging out of this extraction game game loop.

The trailer also has people talking in Ukrainian. Developers Holygrph and TowerHaus are based in the country and are proudly representing its cultural heritage in this alternate world setting.

Both developers previously worked on the multiplayer game Secret Neighbor, set in TinyBuild’s biggest franchise the Hello Neighbor series. And Hologryph also previously developed the murder puzzler Party Hard 2.

Sand has no release date yet, but there will be a beta available on PC (Steam) sometime this summer (Q3), which you can sign up for now.
