Roguelite City-Builder Super Fantasy Kingdom Gets A Publisher

Indie publisher Hooded Horse announced they have signed to publish Super Fantasy Kingdom.

Super Fantasy Kingdom is a roguelite city builder by solo developer Feryaz Beer. The game has a demo which resulted the game to have amassed over 85,000 wishlists in the pass three months.

Super Fantasy Kingdom has you rebuild, explore and expand your kingdom. Within the simple pixel art style lies a city builder with mechanics you don’t expect from a city builder. Defend the border, recruit and train a party of heroes, pet a dog, make choices and invest in permanent upgrades that can be carried over in the next run, after that kingdom eventually be burned down to ashes.

Hooded Horse is currently publishing a roguelike city-builder, the fantastic Against The Storm which is still in Early Access. But Super Fantasy Kingdom plays a lot less like that. From the looks of it, it vaguely resembles a city-builder (though it has all the elements of one).

And it’s this distinct feel of what seems to be a familiar genre mash-up is what driven Hooded Horse to publish Super Fantasy Kingdom.

“We love games that blaze new ground,” said Tim Bender, CEO of Hooded Horse. “Super Fantasy Kingdom merges roguelite and city-building elements, but in a completely different way than our other roguelite city builder Against the Storm. These unions of genres that push and explore boundaries are exactly the sort of games we seek to publish.”

The demo is still available if you’re curious to give it a go.

Super Fantasy Kingdom is expected to release in 2024 on PC (Steam). Between this, Against The Storm, the previously announced Nova Roma, and the much anticipated Manor Lords, Hooded Horse sure is keeping fans busy building cities.
