Against The Storm Latest Update Adds New Fox Citizens

The latest update to the Early Access rougelite city-builder Against The Storm, “Sentinels Of The Forest”, is now live.

The update adds a new species of citizens, Foxes. The fifth species in the game to be added, Foxes specialise in scouting work and rainwater-fuelled technologies. So they’re good at investigating glade events and work in rainpunk-powered buildings.

However, Foxes start with low resilience so they’re prone to leaving the settlement if it goes a bit awry. But they balanced out by having lower demands in general, and ignore resolve penalties from the forest- so they’re all okay when debuffs from opening glades kick in.

Foxes also bring new demands in the form of porridge (made out of items like grain and rainwater). Five new buildings are added in the form of a Tea House, a Beanery, a Distillery and a Tea Doctor.

Against The Storm has since been receiving new updates every two weeks since its Early Access launch. We find its blend of roguelite and city-building rather enjoyable, with just the right amount of challenge. You can read more about our impressions of the game here.

Against The Storm is also currently on sale on Steam at 25% off until April 27, the deepest discount yet. The game will be raising its price after the sale, so if you want to get it, get it now.

Against The Storm is out now in Early Access on Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.
