Indie devs Cellar Door Games continues to further refine their latest roguelite Rogue Legacy 2, even after the recent version 1.0 release after two years of Early Access.
One particular nice improvement is for the game’s later biomes. The Sun Towers windmill has been tweaked so that it’s hard to get hit by them, but also easier to hit them for spin kicks, which is a requirement to traverse through this vertical biome.
Those tricky and punishing platforming bits should be easier to execute perfectly, or brute-force your way through it while still surviving.
This is something we alluded to in our review of Rogue Legacy 2. And from the looks of it’s not just us that felt the late game can be a tad too difficult for newcomers.
In addition, the Pishon Dry Lake has also been made brighter, and enemies that are charging from off-screen will be indicated. Good, quality of life stuff.
The patch also brings some more tweaks to the classes. The devs have been looking and see mages not being picked as often despite their high DPS. As such, the bearded heroes get big buffs by having their abilities apply to more actions, so you can see more of that big damage.
There’s also a change in the gunslinger again, buffing them and also making a bug a feature.
You can check out the full patch notes for version 1.0.2 here.
It’s minor stuff, but it’s showing that despite reaching version 1.0, the devs aren’t done with Rogue Legacy 2 just yet. And all the changes here feels in line with what the game’s community is doing with the roguelite platformer.
Rogue Legacy 2 is out now on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), and Xbox.
