The February 2026 Nintendo Direct showcased some new gameplay of Capcom’s upcoming survival horror game and action game Resident Evil Requiem. The sub-3-minute gameplay includes new gameplay of both protagonists Grace Ashcroft and fan-favourite Leon S. Kennedy.
The new Grace gameplay switches between the two available perspectives: third person and first person. Horrific monstrosities are seen, and the narration (Nintendo Direct loves having a narrator walking you through what you’re seeing) emphasises that Grace is working with limited resources, so make those shots count.
Fittingly, not gunshots were fired during Grace’s gameplay.
The footage then switches to Leon, where we see more of his branded Porsche, parry enemy attacks, and fires his gun (with no shots hitting the target), and even make use of enemy weapons.
Not only can Leon parry chainsaws, he can wield one. Leon’s part of the game can also be played entirely in the first person, or be toggled between the two perspectives via an option setting.
There will be a Resident Evil Requiem-themed Switch 2 Pro Controller, as well as amiibos of Grace and Leon. The controller will be releasing alongside the game’s launch, but the amiibos, which will unlock special weapon skins when scanned, will launch later in summer.

Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry of the series (“Re9uiem”) will see Grace and Leon return to the site of that infamous biohazard disaster: Racoon City, the setting of Resident Evil 2 (which featured Leon), Resident Evil Outbreak (which featured Grace’s mother) and a few other titles in the series.
A series of murders have led the two protagonist to an intertwining path. Resident Evil Requiem is intended to be both a survival horror game and an action game at the same time, hopefully with more success than Resident Evil 6 was.
Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
