Report Suggests Fortnite Mobile On Android Is Skipping Google Play Store Altogether

There has been interesting rumours and reports about Fortnite Mobile for Android. The mobile version of the Battle Royale mode is now on iOS but has yet to debut on Android just yet. Reports recently suggest that the launch will coincide with the debut of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and will be a limited-time exclusive to the mobile device.

Now new reports have emerged. XDA Developers have dug into the website of Fortnite and found alarming evidence that the app may not be available on Google Play Store altogether, suggesting users to sideload the APK file.

While sideloading apps on Android is just one security prompt away which may not be much of a fuss, the folks at Android Authority are concerned that this will just encourage malicious apps masking as the Fortnite Mobile game to be installed on unaware users. Fortnite being one of the most popular games in the world currently, this is a big security risk if it’s not available on the Google Play Store.

Epic has made its own launcher for their games on PC, bypassing popular platforms such as Steam which takes a cut on all sales. The idea of sidestepping Google Play Store is most likely based on the same principles here, as you can do so on Android.

However, take it with a grain of salt, and let’s wait and hear from Epic about this matter when they launch Fortnite Mobile on Android sometime this year.
