Quake II RTX Is Out Now On Steam

Quake II RTX, a free version of Quake II remastered by Nvidia’s own Lightspeed Studio to support ray tracing, is out now. First announced to be available to download on Nvidia’s site (which you can here), it’s also available to download on Steam here.

Quake II RTX contains the first three levels of the FPS game. But if you own Quake II (or buy one now on Steam for RM19.99) you have can play the whole game and multiplayer with all the ray tracing glory.

It’s oddly weird seeing all the realistic lighting, shadows, reflections and refractions on top of all those slightly touched-up textures from 1997. But it does serve a purpose- you can easily pinpoint where those RTX cores are doing the work it is much touted for.

Obviously, you need an Nvidia GeForce RTX card to play this with RTX on. A step-by-step guide on how to install the game (yeah, they even have that) and known issues can be found here.
