Paradox Interactive has announced a sequel to Prison Architect, releasing later this March.
Prison Architect 2 is developed by UK and Malaysia-based developers Double Eleven, the developer that has been the caretakers of Prison Architect since Paradox purchase the rights to the game from original developer Introversion Software (they have gone off to develop space ship roguelite The Last Starship).
Prison Architect 2 will bring the prison building and management game into 3D. The art style is changed slightly though the human characters remain to have Rayman-style floating appendages.
But it’s not just an art style change the sequel brings. Multi-floor prisons can now be built with new tools being added for prison construction. Inmates’ AI is improved as they can form relationships and have better pathfinding. There’s a Career Mode with a world map where you are tasked to manage different prisons.
Prison Architect 2 releases on March 26 on PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S.
