Playstation’s Musashi Firmware 3.50 Out Tomorrow!

The next major firmware update for the PS4, version 3.50, will finally arrive tomorrow for Playstation gamers.

As previously reportedfirmware 3.50 for the PS4 will come tomorrow, April 6th. Codenamed Musashi, the firmware brought exciting news during its beta program, with notably Remote Play for the PC/Mac being a hot button topic. Now we have the more information on some of the features coming with the update.

3.50 will bring about more social features, the first being the option to appear offline, with PS Blog stating that:

Appear Offline

  • On your Profile tab, we’ve added a new option called ‘Online Status.’ From here, you can choose to ‘Appear Offline.’ This could be useful if you want to play games or watch movies secretly from your friends. You can designate if you would like to appear offline when you log-in or at any time from your Profile or the Quick Menu.

Another cool addition is the ability to create User Scheduled Events.

User Scheduled Event

  • On the Events tab, we’re adding the ability to schedule gameplay sessions with your friends. Just select ‘Create Event,’ and you’ll be able to make an invitation for an upcoming gameplay session. Choose the day, time, game, and send it off to your friends. When your event starts, users who registered will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away.
  • You can also share an event to communities or groups. Once shared, the event will be posted to a community wall or sent as a message, and members can register from there.

These specifications are on par with the unofficial app that was developed a while back by an independent developer to enable Remote Play on the PC; it’s definitely great to see Sony keeping up with the times.
